CORNWALL, Ontario – A 19-year-old Cornwall woman’s long night’s journey into police custody Sunday started with an alleged assault, followed by impaired driving, and quickly spiraled downward.

Cornwall police responded to an assault call March 1 and found the suspect allegedly driving drunk near Second Street West at Brookdale Avenue.

During the arrest, Petra Decle allegedly resisted, damaged property, and kicked and spit on police officers.

According to city cops, the assault call was made after the woman pulled the hair of another woman and struck her in the face.

During the traffic stop police seized a quantity of marijuana and cocaine.

She was charged with four counts of assaulting police, three counts of breach of recognizance, impaired driving, assault, mischief, resisting arrest, causing a disturbance, possession of cocaine, and possession of marijuana.

The woman was held for a bail hearing.
