Cornwall, Ontario – On April 20-21, Cornwall’s Benson Centre buzzed with excitement for the annual Cornwall & Area Pop Event (CAPE). The event featured special guests, exhibitors, and cosplayers. Event organizer Carol Sauve noted the enthusiastic turnout. “There was quite a long lineup this morning before opening. Also, the cosplay contest on Saturday afternoon is a major highlight, given the fantastic costumes we’re seeing.”
Cornwall Mayor Justin Towndale praised CAPE’s impact on the community. “CAPE has been a staple for around 10 years, bringing many to the city. It’s a great family-friendly event and a wonderful kickoff to our tourism season.”
Celebrity guests added to the excitement. Rafferty Blumberg, from the reality TV show “We Bought A Funeral Home,” shared his experience: “It’s gratifying hearing from and meeting fans. It’s weird but great that everyone knows our names, nicknames, and habits.”
Comedian and actor Mike Paterson, known for his role in Disney+’s “Prey,” expressed his delight with a smile. “It’s great being at CAPE. It’s just a hop, skip, and a jump from Montreal, and the people here are much nicer than Predators!”
While Matthew G. Taylor, known for his role as Nemesis in “Resident Evil: Apocalypse,” was eager to meet fans. “It’s interesting to meet fans and discuss playing Nemesis, as so much of it involves wearing a costume and prosthetics.”
Thousands of pop culture fans attend CAPE each year, attracting a diverse crowd that includes families, children, teenagers, and people of all ages. The vendor tables featured many items, including toys, comics, movie posters, artwork, and more.
