AKWESASNE, Ontario – Akwesasne A`nowara`ko:wa Arena hosted the lacrosse Founders Cup this past week. Eight teams descended on the region to compete.
“We stepped up to host when Seneca could not longer host it,” said Bonnie Ruest, one of the event organizers. “We are really happy with the response and the volunteers who have stepped up.”
Ruest said that she had heard a lot of positive feedback around the tournament.
“Akwesasne has a rich history in lacrosse and is positioned to host a successful tournament,” she said. “The feedback we’ve received has all been positive.”
At the end of the tournament the Elora Mohawks took home the gold, the Seneca War Chiefs won silver, Coquitlam Adanacs took bronze and the Calgary Shamrocks won Tier II.
