CORNWALL, Ontario – Cornwall Colts forward Grant Cooper has been named Team Canada East captain in advance of the World Junior A Hockey Challenge.

Head Coach Jason Clarke announced the full roster on Wednesday (Dec. 8).

“There were no easy decisions to get our roster down to these 22 players,” Clarke said.

The Team Canada East final roster was selected by Clarke (head coach of the CCHL leading Carleton Place Canadians), along with his assistant coaches from the LHJQ, OJHL, and the NOJHL.

“It’s a great feeling to represent Team Canada East in such a prestigious tournament,” said Cooper, who has 11 goals and 11 assists for 22 points in 18 games with the Cornwall Colts so far this season.  “It’s a thrill being named captain.”

The World Junior A Challenge begins this Sunday and runs until December 19 in Cobourg and Whitby.

Team Canada East kicks off their schedule with an exhibition game against the United States Friday night at 7 p.m. in Wellington.
