Cornwall, Ontario – Cornwall celebrated its fourth annual Eco Day on April 20th in Lamoureux Park, drawing hundreds of residents to engage with local sustainability efforts. City Councillor Sarah Good remarked on the day’s energetic atmosphere, saying, “The vibe here is incredible. People of all ages and all cultures have gathered to enjoy the vendors. I’ve got raspberry bushes in my bag, and others have gathered trees from the RRCA. You can see people cracking walnuts and swapping seeds. It’s very lively!”
The event, organized by the City of Cornwall, featured various activities, from live music by Keegan Larose to interactive games, arts, and free bicycle safety tune-ups. Angie Parker, Sustainability Project Coordinator, emphasized the educational aspect. “Eco Day is about providing the community with the knowledge and tools for a sustainable lifestyle,” she stated.
A highlight was the Give-a-Shirt Fashion Show, showcasing upcycled clothing from local thrift stores. Parker added, “This fashion show demonstrates how you can keep clothing out of the landfill, save money, and still look stylish.”
