Prison escapee believed to have contacts in this region

CORNWALL, Ontario – A 50-year-old man who escaped from a Kingston prison is believed to have family in our region.

Marc Leroux escaped from the Collins Bay Institution in Kingston after he did not turn up at a headcount at the facility Saturday.

Leroux is a minimum-security prisoner, imprisoned for two years for failure to comply with a condition order and break and enter.

OPP Sgt. Kristine Rae told Seaway News he has family in Winchester and other eastern Ontario communities.

The Correctional Service of Canada has contacted the OPP Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad and a warrant for his arrest has been issued.

Leroux is 50 years old, measures 5’9 and weighs 177lbs. He has a medium complexion, brown eyes and brown hair.

Anyone who has information on Leroux’s whereabouts is asked to contact police
