Did you know that Cornwall Square is extremely pleased to have been asked to display the WAVE OF HUMANITY QUILT in cooperation with Councillor Elaine MacDonald from the City of Cornwall? The WAVE OF HUMANITY QUILT is a magnificent work of art in its own right, and the accompanying poster detailing the inspiration for its creation and those who devoted their time and energy to making it happen is a powerful read. The WAVE OF HUMANITY QUILT will be on display in the display window of the former EB Games store where more recently the Focus Art Group held its Spring 2024 Exhibition, located on the upper level of the mall. The opportunity to view this quilt should not be missed. Stay tuned for actual dates.
You need to know there are only 4 days left until Mothers’ Day and to make sure you don’t end up in the proverbial doghouse. The stores here at Cornwall Square, be it Laura Secord, Shoppers Drug Mart, Dollarama and Hallmark with their sweets and cards can help you find just the right card and gift for your loved one. Remember, Sunday May 12th.
You need to know that Cornwall Square will be judging and awarding the 3 prizes for the top 3 “My Mom is the best because……” short essay of 50 words or less contest on Monday May 13th. There is still time to drop off your entry in the mailbox located in the Mother’s Day display at centre court on the main level of the mall.
Just a reminder that Cornwall Square will be closed on Monday May 20th, 2024, for Victoria Day and we hope that everyone can celebrate the extra day with family and friends.
Did you know that according to Cornwall Square’s maintenance and janitorial team, the mall uses 1,800 garbage bags per month or an average of 60 per day, along the same lines, the 2 mall washrooms use some 15 liters of foaming soap per month and the final fun fact is that the mall washrooms use 110 of the super mega rolls of toilet paper per month. Needless to say, that during major events, we experience a surge in use such as on April 8th Eclipse Day.
Did you know that Cornwall Square has added a new food waste dehydrator to our original “Chompy” unit. The smaller model called “Watusi” appears to have better results in turning food waste into compost material. We are in the early stages of the equipment testing phase as we try to determine which machine works best with the various types of food waste. Our goal is to turn as much of the food waste from the Food Court restaurants into compost material.
Thought of the week. “Perspective can have two people see the same thing differently.”
