Cornwall, Ontario – Community Living Stormont County marked the beginning of Community Living Month by hosting its annual flag-raising ceremony on May 9th at 340 Pitt Street. The event was attended by Cornwall Mayor Justin Towndale, who officially proclaimed May as Community Living Month.

“Community Living offers an important service to our community. They assist people so they can stay in their homes and live more normal lives. I think it’s important as it helps with the dignity and independence of these individuals,” said Mayor Towndale.

The month-long recognition includes various events, including lighting a Second Street fountain with Community Living colours. Notably, on May 21st, there will be a presentation at Ramada Inn by MichaelJacques, an advocate with autism and an intellectual disability, who has also authored two books and served as Board President of Community Living Ontario.

“We have been recognizing May as Community Living Month by doing special events all across the province,” noted Michelle Alguire, Community Living Stormont County Executive Director.

Board member Martin Gervais assisted with the flag-raising, while board member Randy Sabourin was also one of many persons in attendance.
