SLIDESHOW: Santa Claus Parade 2018

CORNWALL, Ontario – Cornwall residents lined the streets for the annual Santa Claus parade on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018.

There were 57 entrants in total this year for the parade and the theme had some Christmas movie magic.

“The theme this year is Christmas movies,” explained Terry Muir, parade organizer and Optimist Club President in an earlier interview with Seaway News. “I think it will be an interesting year. That’s a pretty wide-open topic—movies.”

Muir also explained that the parade traditionally takes place in November because weather and road conditions become much more uncertain the closer you get to Christmas.

As it was last year, the parade left from St. Lawrence Secondary School on Second St. and followed Second St. all the way to York St.

Muir estimates that over 20,000 people watch the parade every year and he also said that around 250 people participate or volunteer to help make the parade possible.
