Summerstown Trails Grand Opening next weekend

SUMMERSTOWN, Ontario – The Friends of the Summerstown Trails (FOTST) are getting ready to officially mark the start of the 2018 season.

Starting at 10 a.m., join us on Jan. 7 for a day of family-friendly activities. We’ll have free ski and snowshoe rentals, volunteers to act as guides on the trails and hot chocolate by the fire to warm you up. Learn about events and lessons taking place this winter, and meet other trail users and members of FOTST. It’s time to get excited about winter! For more information, please visit summerstowntrails@gmail.com or check out our Facebook page.

New this year at the trails will be a new and bigger relocated parking lot adjacent to Summerstown Road. FOTST, in collaboration with the United Counties of SDG, will be holding a press conference and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 am on that same day to mark the occasion.

This is the second year that FOTST is organizing an Opening Day event, and we hope that those who have never visited the trails will use this opportunity to discover this gem of a place right in our own backyard. The Summerstown Trails offer 18 km of groomed XC ski trails for both classic and skating, and a separate network of 11 km of snowshoe trails. The trails are situated on Summerstown Road, 1.6 km north of exit 804 of the 401, and are open seven days a week. There is no charge to access the trails.
