Specialist High Skills Major

The SHSM is a ministry-approved specialized program that allows students to focus their learning on a specific economic sector while meeting the requirements to graduate from secondary school.  SHSM programs assists students in their transition after graduation to apprenticeship training, college, university or the workplace.  Students who successfully complete a SHSM receive:

. Ontario Secondary School Diploma with an embossed SHSM Seal

. SHSM Record documenting their achievement

. Formal recognition on their Ontario Student Transcript

The Major Damon Murray Memorial Award: Damon Murray graduated from Tagwi in June 1995 as an Ontario Scholar.  He studied Biology and Chemistry at Queen’s University and went on to be a Major in the Air Force.  His legacy is his admirable character of steadfastness, honour, and camaraderie.  This award is granted to the graduate who best exemplifies these characteristics.  Presented by Mr. Alain Roy

In 2014, Rothwell-Osnabruck teacher Stephanie Grady courageously battled a rare form of cancer called NUT Midline Carcinoma. In 2015, to honour Stephanie’s life and legacy, her husband, Nicholas Grady, donated funds back to the community and established the Stephanie Grady Memorial Scholarship. This award is given annually to a student who embodies the virtues of Ms. Grady: academically well-rounded, courageous and resilient, as well as kind-hearted.  Presented by Mr. Nick Grady
