TAG gains, loses board member

CORNWALL, Ontario – The Art Gallery (TAG) of Cornwall’s board of directors has accepted the resignation of director Greg Kielec.

Elected to fill Kielec’s seat is Kevin Lamoureux, president and CEO of KAV Productions Inc.

He will attend his first full board meeting on Monday, Feb. 16.

TAG board president Roland Besner said in a statement, it is one of his dreams to move the art gallery from a focus on paintings and photos to include other forms of art.

Besner feels the new director will have the contacts and wherewithal to meet that goal.

Lamoureux’s credits include media production, project management, consulting, marketing, and business administration. He graduated from the University of Ottawa with a bachelor’s degree in communication and is a member of SOCAN, an artist’s organization.

Kielec, a former journalist who reported on Cornwall politics for over a decade, submitted his resignation from the board for personal reasons earlier this month, according to TAG.

Besner said Kielec’s departure is a loss to the arts community but wished him all the best, offering an open door policy to assist TAG in other capacities.

The entire past board of directors recently resigned, prompting a fresh start at the gallery. A new board was elected at TAG’s AGM on January 6. Members now include: Eric Covington, Brian Long, Marc Pilote, Mary Ann Hug, Jamie Gilcig, Lamoureux, and Besner.
