CORNWALL, Ontario – The history of Cornwall and the United Counties of SD&G were on display at the Cornwall Square on Saturday, Feb. 23.

There were 12 organizations showcasing local heritage including the Nor’Westers Loyalist Museum from Williamstown and the Lost Villages Museum from Long Sault.

“We get together once a year and celebrate,” said Ginette Guy, one of the organizers of the event. “There are a lot of people who don’t know the history of the area and this is to help keep it alive.”

The Nor’Westers museum had furs, tools of the fur trade, blankets and literature on display.

“We’re here to build awareness about what we have in Williamstown,” said Curator Keleigh Goodfellow-Theoret. “There are not a lot of fur trade groups represented in this area.
