CORNWALL, Ontario – In a press release on Thursday, March 2, the City of Cornwall announced that it would be lifting its winter parking restrictions early this year.

"Overnight winter parking restrictions are typically in place until March 31, however the restrictions can be lifted during the month of March at the discretion of Municipal Works based on the status of existing snow accumulation and the weather forecast," the press release reads. "The lifting of the restrictions means overnight parking is now allowed. The restrictions would take effect again should there be days in March when a snowfall of 5 centimetres or more is forecasted by Environment Canada."

While Thursday has been the coldest day in a week with temperatures reaching minus 20 degrees Celcius with the win, temperatures in late February and early March have been unseasonably high.

By early next week temperatures are likely to return to single and double digit positive territory and remain there.
