CORNWALL, Ontario – Downtown Cornwall will be buzzing on July 1 with Canada Day activities, so road detours will be in effect to make it easier to access the celebration events.
From the opening ceremonies at noon, until the fireworks illuminate the night sky at 10 p.m., thousands are expected to gather at Lamoureux Park.
To keep a steady flow, Cornwall Community Police Service officers will assist in redirecting traffic at the end of the festivities.
CCPS also plans to enforce parking restrictions (with fines and towing at the owner’s expense) to ensure that emergency services have access to the park at all times.
Starting at 9:45 p.m., the following detours will take effect:
Eastbound traffic on Water Street West will be re-directed northbound on York Street.
Southbound traffic on Augustus Street will be re-directed westbound on Water Street West.
