An important reminder from Canada Post to Cornwall dog owners

A call for a partnership with dog owners to keep delivery employees and neighbours safe

Every day, our employees deliver to approximately 22,000 homes in Cornwall. Many of these households have dogs and our delivery agents encounter them every day while delivering mail and parcels. Our top priority is the safety of our employees, which includes safe access to mailboxes and the front door.

At Canada Post, we are proud to deliver our customers’ packages and mail. That’s why we need to ensure our employees can do it safely. This is our number one priority and responsibility as an employer to every employee.

Our employees understand dogs can sometimes be protective of their homes and families. Quite simply – our employees don’t know “What Daisy will do?” – Facebook post (social media dog awareness campaign).

To our customers with dogs, we ask for your partnership in keeping our employees safe when we are delivering the mail in their neighbourhood:

– Be careful when you answer the door, so your dog does not slip out.

– Keep your dog inside, in a fenced yard or tied up far from the front door or mailbox.

– Keep front doors and fence gates closed.

– Keep your dog away from the screen door, even if it is locked.

By sharing this message, you’re helping our employees safely deliver to all Canadians.
