CORNWALL, Ontario -With prom, wedding and gala season just around the corner, you don’t have to spend a fortune to look and feel glamorous.
New For You, the Agapè Centre’s thrift store, is hosting the “Dress for Less” gown sale on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Vivian Theoret, owner of Juliannah’s Dress & Bridal in Moose Creek which has been voted “Best Bridal Shop” in Eastern Ontario, hosted a sale at Ramada Inn Cornwall on April 8, to help young women find their perfect prom dress at a fraction of the cost.
“This was just the first year. It was a very exciting event, and I’m going to do it again next year,” said Theoret.
After donating the proceeds from the event, she also gave the Agapè Centre more than 80 new dresses.
“We chose the Agapè Centre because many citizens of Cornwall have always supported the Moose Creek Mall,” she said. “It’s our turn to give back.”
The beautiful ball gowns have never been worn and still have the tags attached. They all have a retail value between $300 and $700, but will be sold for only $50 or less.
To make the experience even more enjoyable, staff and volunteers will be serving up coffee, tea, and some tasty treats.
“We’re really grateful for Vivian’s support and her generous donation of beautiful dresses. It will make a great difference in the lives of young women,” said Alyssa Blais, executive director for the Agapè Centre.
