CORNWALL, Ontario –  The second annual Ghost Walk for Charity is hoping to see and spook several ghouls and goblins this year.

All funds raised throughout the event will be donated to Beyond 21, Bereaved Families of Cornwall and Rachel’s Kids. Last year, the walk was able to donate a total of $15,000, amounting to $5,000 towards three local charities.

“We have had a lot of support this year, which is really helpful,” said Mike Turcotte, Ghost Walk Chairman. “Cornwall is unbelievable for fundraising.”

Housed at 1400 Vincent Massey Dr., this year’s walk opened on Oct. 19, with a scare and non-scare version available for family fun. Representatives from each charity were anticipated to inform attendees about the charitable services offered.

The walk is open from Oct. 19 to 20 and Oct. 23 to 26. The non-scare version, which allows children to trick or treat, runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. while the scare version is open from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission prices include $5 for children under the age of 12, $7 for adults and $20 for a family pass, which is equivalent to two adults and two children.

On Oct. 27, the space expects to see 250 costumed attendees for the Transylvania Bash beginning at 7 p.m. Guests can enjoy free hors d’oeuvres, a free welcome drink, dancing and prizes throughout the evening. Tickets are $40 per person and $70 per couple.

According to Turcotte, approximately 25 actors are required for the scare and non-scare walks. He explained that help is also required for sound and lighting, maintaining that the production of the event is no easy feat. A majority of the set was created by himself as well as committee members.

“We have decorated 25,0002 ft. here so we have really utilized every inch of the space,” said Turcotte.

Turcotte hopes to receive positive testimonials from walkers this year. Last year he was given tremendous, positive feedback.

“I love Halloween,” said Turcotte. “It’s funny, there are some people who put more time and effort in than they do with Christmas.”
