CORNWALL, Ontario – An Ottawa man is facing a pair of charges in relation to a fatal motorcycle accident near Cornwall last summer that saw two people killed.
Yousef Romaizan, 41, faces two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.
The charges were filed by police following a six-month investigation into how Shea Laughlin, 24, and passenger Marc Sabourin, 31, both of Osgoode, Ont., were killed while riding a motorcycle on Belmeade Road in North Dundas on Aug. 13.
Police said the motorcycle was eastbound on Belmeade Road when a westbound van entered the eastbound lane and collided with the motorcycle. Both occupants of the motorcycle were pronounced dead at the scene.
Romaizan was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg in April. He was not injured in the incident.
