CORNWALL, Ontario – Water was not the only thing flowing through the R.H. Saunders Power Dam on Saturday, as visitors were able to tour the facility on their 60th Anniversary on Saturday, June 23.
The power generating station which is normally closed off to the public for safety reasons opened its doors for the curious hearted to see for the day what goes on at the plant.
“We are treating this as, not only an opportunity to celebrate the anniversary but we also want to educate people,” explained plant manager Brent Stajkowski, “It gives people a chance to see inside this building and ask questions.”
Almost 700 people were able to make the trip through the facility safely, visiting the generators, control rooms, and playing with the cranes.
