CORNWALL, Ontario –  The bright and sunny weather over Cornwall and the United Counties of SD&G could be replaced by thunder, lighting and hail by this evening.

Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the region.

“Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain,” the statement from Environment Canada reads. “The thunderstorms are expected to develop ahead of or along a cold front this afternoon or evening.”

The Watch was issued at 10:39 a.m.

The Weather Network is reminding readers in the Cornwall area that severe thunderstorms can possibly also produce tornadoes.
