CORNWALL, Ontario – Food Fest in support of Beyond 21 celebrated its fourth year in Cornwall this Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018.
This year saw 10 food vendors on hand and many other artisan booths fill Pitt St. from First St. to Third St.
All together, nearly 100 volunteers came together to help make the event happen.
There was more than just food to take in at Cornwall Food Fest however. Thanks to community partnerships, during Food Fest there was also the Vicious Varieties Car Show was taking place on Pitt St. between Water and First streets.
The Cornwall Kennel Club was also doing shows nearby in front of the Cornwall Square, and Richard Salem of Your Arts Council (YAC), helped to bring YACBuskapalooza to Food Fest.
YACBuskapalooza is a celebration of street artists and thanks to YAC, stilt riders from the Ottawa Stilt Union, musicians, jugglers and magicians were traveling through Food Fest providing fun entertainment.
From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. there were artists performing on two different stages at Food Fest. Bands included Nick Seguin and Bang on the Ear.
Cornwall Food Fest is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Beyond 21. Jane McLaren, Executive Director of Beyond 21 hoped to raise $20,000 this year. Money raised came from the $2 entry fee and vendors also provided 10 percent of all of their sales to support Beyond 21.
Beyond 21 is an organization dedicated to providing adults with developmental disabilities with the chance to live connected, be respected with a chance to contribute to the community.
