CORNWALL, Ontario – Via Rail spokesperson Mariam Diaby confirmed with Cornwall Seaway News that their Train 67 from Montreal to Toronto collided with a vehicle on the tracks near Cornwall at around 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27.
Diaby also confirmed that no injuries occurred as a result of the accident.
"We don’t know why the car was stopped on the tracks," she said.
She went on to say that emergency crews were on the scene and that passengers would be taken by bus to their next stop or to a replacement train.
The train had been scheduled to arrive at Cornwall Station at 4:57 p.m.
