Justin Trudeau is not worth the cost.

Justin Trudeau is not worth the cost.

They say the definition of insanity is repeating the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result.

That is exactly what we saw as Justin Trudeau tabled his 9th budget in Ottawa. The NDP-Liberal coalition is doubling down on the same failed approaches that have driven inflation and interest rates to record highs.

Simply put: Justin Trudeau is not worth the cost.

It’s important to understand just how bad life has become after 9 years of Trudeau.

Housing prices, rent, mortgage payments and down payments have all doubled. We need more housing being built, but high costs and interest rates have caused a decrease in new home construction, including here in Cornwall.

His carbon taxes have caused the prices of gas, groceries, and home heating to skyrocket, and the out-of-control inflation caused by his failed policies has forced the Bank of Canada to raise and maintain high interest rates.

Things have gotten so bad that demand at the Agape Centre and St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank in Cornwall have skyrocketed to never-seen-before levels. Across Canada, a record two million visits were made to food banks each month last year. 2024 will shatter food bank records again, with another 1 million more visits expected.

So, what is the solution we need to help fix this mess? Conservatives know that struggling families need financial relief. You can’t afford Trudeau’s higher taxes and inflationary spending that drives up the cost of everything and keeps interest rates high.

Our three common sense demands to fix the budget are clear:

1. Axe the tax on farmers and food to lower prices and stop driving business and food production out of Canada.

2. Build the homes, not bureaucracy, by requiring cities permit 15% more home building each year as a condition for receiving federal infrastructure money.

3. Cap the spending with a dollar-for-dollar rule to bring down interest rates and inflation. The government must find a dollar in savings for every new dollar of spending.

The latest Liberal-NDP budget adds $40 billion to our national debt. We are now spending more on debt interest than on healthcare. That’s just now out-of-touch and broken things have become under Trudeau.

We need common sense and fiscal sanity restored in Ottawa. With this latest failed budget, Canadians deserve a carbon tax election now so they can decide for themselves.
