CORNWALL, Ontario – The 31st annual Cornwall Real Estate Board Golf tournament kicked off Wednesday afternoon at the Cornwall Golf and Country Club.

Every year, the event supports a local charity organization. The money raised this year went to the Kinsmen Club of Cornwall to help support their many philanthropy projects in the community.

Money raised for the Kinsmen came principally from the silent auction held at the event and from the sponsorship of various holes on the course by local businesses.

Last year’s event saw $12,000 raised in total. The Desjardins Group has pledged to match this year’s total up to $5,000.

There were nineteen teams, 76 real-estate agents and golfers in all participating.

“It is a great time for real estate agents to network with suppliers and other real estate people,” said Bill Shields, Chair of the Real Estate Board Events Committee.

“Everyone is out here to have fun, and what better way to raise money than by having fun while doing it,” said Shields.
