MacDONELL, Ambrose - Joseph Ambrose "Bud" MacDonell, who brought unwavering energy, persistence, and cheer to a diverse career, his beloved family, and an especially vigorous retirement, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Maxville Manor, Maxville Ontario. He was 94 years old. Bud was born in Lancaster, Ontario on March 8, 1921. At an early age, he left the family farm at Bridge End to work in Kirkland Lake at Wright Hargreaves Gold Mine. That career ended due to a general strike. He was a lumberjack in northern Ontario and then worked in construction, earning his carpenter's papers. Ambrose met Sophie Polojko from Espanola, Ontario and married in September 1945. Construction work for Ambrose and nursing for Sophie brought them to Montreal. After a number of years as construction foreman in the refinery area, he was offered a management position with a Union Tank Car rail repair facility in Montreal East (head office was in Chicago). That finally led to the creation of a Canadian company called Procor. Ambrose was superintendent there for 35 years until his retirement in 1986. He relocated to Green Valley, where he viewed retirement as an occupation that must be done well. He traveled often, gardened, bowled, curled, golfed, was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, took up skiing cross country, ski-dooed, drove for outreach, to name a few activities he did wholeheartedly. As a founding member of the Brown House Circle, he served a two-year term as President. He also ran the Heart and Stroke campaign Glengarry Chapter as President for two years. In 2005, at 85, he, Lionel Dore and Bert Roveto, members of Alexandria Bowling Lanes, went to Nationals and competed at the Golden Age Triple Team five-pin national championship in Chilliwack, B.C. They won Silver Medal Performance. Ambrose was instrumental in founding the Clan Donald Glengarry-Stormont Chapter, and he has held several positions on their executive over the years, including High Commissioner. He was a proud member of Clan Donald Canada. He loved the Maxville Highland Games and ran the clan building for many years. His desire to connect to people was evident throughout his life in work, in play, and even in his failing health. He appreciated any gesture of care and kindness. "How are you today?" and "Thank you for coming," he always said. Bud was beloved husband of the late Sophie MacDonell (née Polojko). Loving father of two sons: Wayne (Rachel) of Alexandria and Brian (Louise) of Windsor, Ontario. Dearly loved brother of Geraldine (late Melton) Tibbals of Alexandria. Predeceased by his parents Archibald (Archie Alec) MacDonell and Catherine (Kate) McCosham; brother Angus Neil MacDonell (Margaret); sisters Anna-Margaret MacDonald (late Mervyn) and Olive Seguin (Rene). Also survived by five grandchildren: Stephen, Peter (Olga), Sarah (Paul), Anne-Marie and Katie (Michael), and nine great-grandchildren: Faith, Noah, Sage, Olivia, Charlotte, Cooper, Thomas, Eleanor and Harrison. Special friend of Jeannine Buda. He will be missed by many relatives and friends. Relatives and friends may call at the MUNRO & MORRIS FUNERAL HOMES LTD. , 114 Main St. South, Alexandria (613-525-2772) on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm and on Wednesday from 9 am until 10 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Finnan's Cathedral, Alexandria on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 10:30 am. Cremation will follow. As expressions of sympathy, Memorial Donations in Ambrose's memory can be made to the Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation or to the Maxville Manor Foundation. I am desperately trying to find the Obituary for a very dear friend of mine. Her name was Rowan Russell and she lived near Launceston.

I am trying to find Lorraine Emond or Eamon's obituary. I believe she died in 2012 somewhere between April and June.
