STEWART, Ruth Marguerite (née Coakwell) – Mrs. Ruth Stewart peacefully at the Glen-Stor-Dun Lodge on Saturday October 25, 2014 at the age of 92. Born in Toronto on November 18, 1921 to the late Marshall and Annie (Gibson) Coakwell. Predeceased by her cherished husband Cameron Watson Stewart. Dear mother of Brenda (Murray), Donna (Peter) and Linda (Derek). Loved Grandma of Andrew, Robert, Julie, Chris (Lauren), Jackie, Krista (Rob), Sarah (Phil) and Jennie. Great Grandmother of Coston, Charlotte, June, Deneen, Jill and Olivia. Ruth is predeceased by her sister Dorothy (late William) and by her brother Harold (Mary). Ruth enjoyed her employment at the SD&G County Board of Education for 18 years. Prior to her marriage to Cameron in 1949, Ruth was employed by General Motors in Oshawa for 9 years. She was a Girl Guide Captain for many years and was active with St. Paul’s United Church. Her other activities included the Cornwall General Hospital Auxiliary, the Shriners and the Stormont Yacht Club. Ruth and Cameron both shared a love for travel, especially to Spain. MCNAMARA, Doris (née MacNeill) – Mrs. Doris McNamara peacefully at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre on Thursday October 23, 2014 at the age of 87 years. Beloved wife of the late Henry McNamara, dear mother of Bonnie of Ottawa, Howard of Cornwall and the late Barbara of Vancouver. Predeceased by her parents Archie and Jessie MacNeill. Also predeceased by her brother Raymond and sisters Mary MacDonald and Kathleen MacNeill. Sadly missed by her and dear, dear friend Joan Bray of Carleton Place, ON. Doris and Joan and others worked tirelessly with bake and rummage sales to establish the S. G. & G Humane Society in Cornwall now called the OSPCA. Doris’ love of animals is well known by many and her devotion to help the abused, abandoned and injured animals will always be remembered. Devoted parishioner of the former Good Shepherd Anglican Church of Cornwall. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. HAMILTON, Lloyd Earle - Korean War Veteran - Mr. Lloyd Hamilton, formerly of Martintown passed away at Chateau Cornwall on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the age of 82 years. Lloyd was born in Northfield, Ontario on February 23, 1932 to the late Levi and Olive (née Bender) Hamilton. Loving father of Murray Hamilton (Jo Ann) of Martintown, Gary Hamilton of Calgary and Bonnie Lee MacLeod (Lance) of Martintown. Lloyd was married to Shirley Hamilton (née Lafave). Dear companion of 26 years to the late Carol Ruckstuhl. Sadly missed by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Predeceased by his siblings Cory Sansom, Edwin Sansom, Gertrude Salter, Stanley Hamilton, Audrey Tyo and Roy Hamilton. Lloyd was a tireless worker and he retired from the Upper Canada School Board in 1992. He loved the outdoors and had a contagious smile followed with dry wit humour that will be missed. STRAARUP, Isabel Mary - Isabel Straarup lost her 12-year battle against ovarian cancer on Friday, October 10th, 2014 at Medicine Hat, Alberta. Isabel was born and raised in Apple Hill, Ontario by parents Duncan & Myrtle Christie. Upon completion of high school, Isabel attended Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario receiving her BA. She went on to receive her teaching degree from UBC. Ken & Isabel moved to Medicine Hat in 1977, where Isabel taught ECS in Seven Persons. When Ken and Stan opened Main Floor Carpets in 1985, Isabel volunteered to do the books to help them get started. She ended up working there until the time of her passing. She was very passionate about her work -- the last five years she was almost continuously on chemo, but kept working every day. She was determined not to let cancer take over her life. Isabel is survived by her husband and best friend, Ken; children Michael (Stephanie) Brennan, Tammy (Kevin) Teslyk, and Jason (Erin) Straarup. Ken and Isabel have been blessed with six precious grandsons: Caden, Nathan and Zachary Teslyk, Ryler and Avery Straarup, and Jake Brennan. Isabel is also survived by her brother, Donald (Diane) Christie; as well as Ken's brothers, sister, and parents, Stig & Hanne Andersen. Isabel loved family dinners and took pride in setting a beautiful table (we will remember the tablecloths!). Ken and Isabel enjoyed a number of fabulous trips, especially the family trips to Barbados and Bahamas, where Tammy and Kevin lived, and the most recent family camping trip.

A proud member of the famous Black Watch Regiment, Gerry was a World War II veteran and a loyal supporter of the Cornwall Legion. One of the longest surviving World War Two veterans in the Cornwall area, Gerry hid a kind and gentle heart behind a gruff facade. He loved spending time with family and friends, sports of any kind, breakfast at Moe’s, Saturday afternoons at the Legion and occasional visits to the Akwesasne Casino. The Family wishes to thank the nurses and medical staff at the Intensive Care Centre and the Janet MacDonell Pavilion for their generous and thoughtful care during his time of need. CHURCH, Joan (née ROBERTSON) 1935- 2014 - Joan Church passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 in the comfort of her cottage. Joan, the daughter of John O. Robertson and Evelyn Brown, was born and raised on the West Front family farm along with siblings David, Ruth, and Helen. Joan established a teaching career in Timmins where she met and married Ross Mitchell Church October 1957. Their children Mary-Anne, David and Barbara blessed them with 10 grandchildren. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Ross, her youngest sister Helen Croil Imeson, and brothers-in-law Lorne Aikens and Garnet Kiely.
