Two arrested during store break-in

ALEXANDRIA, Ontario – On April 28, 2017 at approximately 2:59 a.m., Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a break-in in progress at a business on Main Street in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township.

Investigation indicated that a male had forcibly entered a building and stole a quantity of assorted jewellery. He then fled south of the scene in a vehicle driven by a female. Officers intercepted the vehicle on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township and arrested the occupants. The stop revealed that the female driver was under the influence of alcohol. The stolen goods were recovered.

Philippe ST-AMAND (38) and Angela MCHALE (27) both from Montreal, Quebec are each charged with;

– Break, Enter a Place and Commit an Indictable Offence

MCHALE is further charged with;

– Driving a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired

– Driving a Motor Vehicle With More Than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood

Both were held in custody pending a court appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
