CORNWALL, Ontario – Top distilleries and whiskey connoisseurs from around the world descended on Cornwall for the third annual Wonderful World of Whisky show at the Nav Centre.

Even bigger than last year, this year’s event saw roughly 750 guests attend with 34 vendors.

“Really, we’ve just had great buy-in from the whisky community,” said Ian Bentley, Director of Conference Services at the Nav Centre and driving force behind the show.

Spread across three days, the kicked off with a delicious whisky dinner on March 21 featuring the Nav Centre’s Head Chef Luc McCabe and Distillery Manager Steve Woodcock.

The event featured plenty of activities for whisky lovers including Scotch Malt Whisky Society classes, Independent Bottle tastings presented by Joanne McInnis, the Whisky Lass and Igor Kossov, a Connoisseurs and Collectors class and more.

“When I started doing this, I thought it was just something we could do for the Nav Centre,” Bentley said. “What it’s turned into is something for the City. Cornwall has embraced the show and we hope that Cornwall embraces the Nav Centre. What we want to do is to bring the world to Cornwall.”

Earlier this year, the Nav Centre and the Wonderful World of Whisky Show were presented with the Tourism Award at the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.

“To get recognized was really cool,” said Bentley. “It is a team thing and that is what’s really cool.”
