Man assaults police with intent to resist arrest

CORNWALL, Ontario – Cortlon Skidders, 20, of Akwesasne was arrested on Tuesday, April 9 and charged with the following:

  • Utter counterfeit money
  • Assault police with intent to resist arrest
  • Disarming a police officer
  • Breach of probation for failing to keep the peace.

It is alleged on April 9, while police were on scene investigating an unrelated matter, the man attended a Montreal Rd. convenience store and provided the clerk with a counterfeit $100.00 USD bill.

During the investigation, a struggle ensued and the man attempted to remove a gun from an officer’s duty belt.

He was taken into custody after a brief struggle, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
