CORNWALL, Ontario – The annual United Way Wine & Gourmet Tasting that took place on Saturday, Nov. 23 at the Nav Centre was a big success. The event raised $73,000 net for the United Way and their supported organizations.

“Every dollar, every donation, every volunteer hour that was given to this event launches us further into making necessary changes and opportunities for our community’s most vulnerable population,” said Juliette Labossière, Executive Director for the United Way/Centraide of SD&G. “The United Way/Centraide of SD&G guarantees that all of the money that we fundraise stays local in Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry. I am so proud of what our Wine Committee did for our
Community during this one night. I am so proud to be part of this extremely generous community that came out and supported our event.”

The money will be divided amongst the United Way of SD&G’s 16 partner organizations to support important programs in Cornwall, SD&G and Akwesasne.

“Everyone was dressed up, the room was fabulous, the auction items were a hit; it was a night we won’t soon forget,” said Karen and Ray Brunet, United Way/Centraide SD&G Holiday Wine and Gourmet Event Chairs. “We are already excited to start planning for next year.”

The United Way wanted to thank their sponsors of the event, including Xplornet Communications Inc., the Nav Centre, Olsonfab, Welch LLP, CMG Innovations, and Pommier Jewellers.
