CORNWALL, Ontario – A natural partnership, Amanda Marini-Rohde teaches the joy of movement through dance inside Spirit Tree Yoga, just above Echo Trends.

Shifting Creations invites the public to their grand opening/open house on Sunday, Nov. 16, from 1:30-3:30 p.m., at 52 Pitt Street.

I want to help transform and balance people through movement practices and dance,” said owner Marini-Rohde.

If you’re from Cornwall, chances are you’ve seen her moves. She’s a regular at Arts in the Park events, is a key member dance group :Dans/Ce Corps:, has hosted TVCogeco’s Art Current and taught dance in local high schools and numerous studios.

I’ve always been a kinesthetic, musical learner – so movement comes quite naturally to me,” said Marini-Rohde.

Her innate love of the art form and intrigue for learning the body was refined during her honours degree studies in dance at York University.

The new business offers adult movement and dance classes such as The Nia Technique, contemporary, body conditioning, freestyle, burlesque, social dance, and interpretive dance.

The decision to partner up with Spirit Tree Yoga owner Lisa Blanchard was an easy one.

“Both of our businesses have a similar vision,” said owner Marini-Rohde. “We feel health is found in movement – the body reflects what the mind and soul feels.”

During the week of November 17-22, both the yoga and dance studio will be offering free classes and specials.

“Spirit Tree is pleased to host Shifting Creations,” said Blanchard. “Amanda is passionate and a creative force in the field of dance.”

Don’t worry if you have two left either. Marini-Rohde caters to the needs of her clients by creating comprehensive, and easy-to-do classes.

“We have classes for individuals who are looking for a fun and exciting experience and to interact with others, as well as more advanced and focused classes with clearly set challenge levels,” she said.

There are so many layers to consider, but once you allow yourself to surrender to the joy of movement you will find yourself coming back for more.”

Marini-Rohde added that Nia provides a unique dance, martial arts, and healing arts opportunity for children, adults, and seniors.

Shifting Creations also offers dance and movement classes and workshops off-location, one-on-one lessons at your home, and specialized arts programming for organizations.
