Did you know that between mall security personnel and mall Administration Office, we reunite 10 persons per week on average with various items they have lost.  Some items that are brought to us by good Samaritans are of sentimental value while others are necessities that are forgotten in a moment of inattention or distraction.   Items are forgotten in stores, in the Food Hall, on our benches and in our washrooms.  People show up in our office with a look of despair, hoping that we can resolve their loss and replace their angst with joy and hear us say “we have that item, some thoughtful person brought it to us”.  We have seen it all, from personal jewelry items to bank cards, watches, glasses, to books,  glove(s), to a shopping bag full of gifts, to sets of vehicle keys, to wallets and purses.  We have seen the great sense of relief and joy in peoples’ faces but also the look of dread at not hearing the news we deliver.  We hold onto any “Lost & Found” items for 3 months before passing them on to charitable organizations who can disperse them.  Any items of a confidential nature will get to meet our office shredding machine to become confetti.  Our advice to our customers is always the same, “be alert, pay attention to your belongings, as you proceed with your visit to Cornwall Square remember what you came with and should have with you after each transaction you carry out.”

Did you know that during the winter months, Cornwall Square places large mats at each mall entrance for a twofold reason.  The first reason is that customers entering the mall can wipe their footwear on the carpets before stepping onto the terrazzo floor and avoid slipping and falling with wet footwear.  The second reason is to protect the terrazzo floor from the damaging effect of customers’ footwear that tracks in snow, grit, salt, sand and slush that damage the terrazzo.  The Cornwall Square night cleaning shift is currently picking up some 10 pounds or equivalent kilos of gravel and grit on some days from the floor and escalators in the mall.

Did you know that Arks Harvest is testing a Sunday opening to give more customers an opportunity to take advantage of the fruits and veggies they have to offer at advantageous prices while supplies last.
