CORNWALL, Ontario – The third annual Handbags for Heroes in support of the United Way of SD&G was sold out on Thursday, April 25.

The event ran from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Cornwall Civic Complex.

“It is overwhelming the response we’ve had from guests and the business community wanting to be involved in this event,” said Stephanie Lalonde of the United Way.

Over the past two years, the event has raised over $50,000 for the United Way of SD&G and their supported community partners.

In addition to the 10 vendors that guests had the chance to enjoy at the event, there were also of course handbags. Community partners took to the fashion runway to showcase 16 designer handbags that were up for bid.

The handbags were donated by either individuals or by business sponsors of the event. The title sponsor of the third annual Handbags for Heroes event was Your Credit Union.

“I keep on hearing from everyone how this is a fun event,” said Juliette LabLabossière, Executive Director of the United Way of SD&G. “All money raised by this event stays in the community.”
