CORNWALL, Ontario – For more than 40 years, small businesses and crafters have come to Cornwall for the Heritage Valley Arts & Craft Show

Taking place at the Cornwall Civic Complex from Nov. 3 & 4, by 3 p.m. on the first day more than 1,100 visitors had come to checkout the show.

There were at least 100 crafters at the show selling all thins from jams to jewellry and all handmade.

There were plenty of Christmas items on display. Poitras said that one reason she believes the show to be so popular is because it kind of kicks off the Christmas shopping season.

“I think to them this is the start of Christmas,” she said. “A lot of people prefer to buy handmade crafts.”

Poitras herself sells homemade preserves and has been coming to the show for 12 years, but there are vendors who have been going to the show for much longer.

Julie and Cliff O’Donnell of Muffin House Creations have been coming to the show since 1995. They create children’s clothing for children aged three months to 8-years-old.

“It is a great show, beautifully organized. The clients are great and the atmosphere is wonderful,” said Julie O’Donnell.
