CORNWALL, Ontario – Having received a wonderful response at their soft opening just two short weeks ago, the Kinsmen Farmers’ Market had their official grand opening this Sunday, June 11.
Vendors, club members, and local politicians all came out in support of the latest addition to the local health food scene, which will be open in the St. Lawrence College parking lot every Sunday from 11-3.
With a fair assortment of local vendors, Cornwall Kinsmen Club House Director, Monte Yancey says that they’re hoping to offer even more. Using a list of ingredients found within the market, club members will be serving up some delicious creations.
“We’ve added a few things since the soft opening,” said Yancey. “Mainly, the food court area, where people can actually come down and have lunch before their shopping.”
Folks had some pretty solid selection today, with Thai and Mexican food vendors, as well as the Kinsmen Club BBQ.
Yancey says the next exciting part of the Kinsmen Market is right around the corner.
“We’re so excited to see the produce start coming in,” said Yancey. “When we started this, we wanted to know what the vendors wanted. The one thing they were really adamant about is they didn’t want an early start.”
Yancey said it didn’t take long to find out why. “When they were taking stuff out, there was still dew on the lettuce,” said Yancey. “They’re picking it that morning – it’s that fresh.”
