ST. RAPHAEL’S, Ontario – Rain did not seem to stop cars from lining the street by St. Raphael’s Parish as people took in the singing, dancing, entertainment and food at the Galarama on Sunday, July 28.

“We got a little unlucky with the weather today but that didn’t really hurt attendance too badly,” said Marie MacDonald, an organizer.

An estimated 400 people were in attendance this year. Available for purchase were a variety of desserts, pies, used books and other goods.

“It is always worth taking a look around, (there is) lots of great little gems you can pick up here,” said Marie.

The day was filled with local musical and Celtic talent including The Brigadoons, Bob Beriault, The MacCulloch Dancers, Tammy McRae and Grace MacDonald.

“This year we had a few different entertainers, but aside from that we’ve kept with our roots,” said Marie.

People from all over will make the trip out to St. Raphael’s for the Galarama, according to Marie.

“We had some people stop in from Montreal today, and another who had just come back from Edmonton,” said Marie. “Having an event like this that really shows some of the talented people in our area, and also at a really beautiful location is quite the treat.”
