CORNWALL, Ont. – Strategy is the name of the game at the third annual fundraiser hosted by the Cornwall Sunrise Rotary Club.

The Amazing Rotary Rally kicks off Saturday (May 14) from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., followed by judging, refreshments, entertainment, and prizes. Registration will start at noon.

“The Amazing Rotary Rally combines the thrills of a car rally with the fun of a scavenger hunt,” said Bette Miller, Cornwall Sunrise Rotary Club member and event communications coordinator.

Participants will meet at the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) parking lot (329 Pitt Street). The registration fee is $25 per person.

Proceeds will support the new mental health facility attached to the Cornwall Community Hospital.

“For Rotarians who are concerned with the future and wellbeing of the citizens of this community, it is only logical for us to lend our support to the initiatives that are already underway to help address mental health issues right here in our own community,” said Miller. “The well-being of our youth is essential for the future success of individuals, families and (this and other) communities.”

Teams (of two to four individuals) will be required to find items, answer trivia questions, take team photos, and respond to challenges during a four-hour timeframe.

Each team will need a car, a camera, and a can-do attitude.

“To make the rally more appealing, this year, we’ve shortened the route (by two hours), and moved it into the downtown area,” said Miller.

Teams will also have to decide if they want to go for a high volume of tasks or try and go for the higher valued tasks for bigger points. The winner is the group with the most points at the end of the day. All participants must be at least 18 years of age.
