CORNWALL, Ontario – The second annual Eid al-Fitr party for kids took place in Reg Campbell Park on Saturday, June 15.

Eid al-Fitr took place on June 4 and marks the end of the Muslim fast of Ramadan.

The celebration in Reg Campbell Park had food, cake, face painting and more.

Cornwall Fire Services and their mascot Sparky were on hand to teach kids about fire safety while showing them around the inside and outside of a fire truck.

“This event is to keep all the kids together and to teach them that they can have fun together and be friends and that they can stay together no matter what community they come from,” said Mohammad Younas, one of the event’s organizers.

Younas wanted to thank the 12 volunteers that helped him to make the event possible as well as the events sponsors, which included Twisstzer Pizza, Laplante Poultry Farm, Shah’s RBC, the Eastern Ontario Training Board and TR Leger Immigrant Services.
