There is a reason people say that laughter is the best medicine.
International Moment of Laughter Day was first celebrated in 1997 when psychologist Izzy Gesell invited the world to join her in activities to make people laugh.
Current studies show that laughter is linked to chemical changes in the body that can reduce stress and increase pain tolerance. There is even the idea that laughter could be prescribed similarly to exercise and other healthy habits to improve our overall health.
