Five students will help visitors and staycationers discover Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry in their roles as Cycling Tourism Ambassadors this summer.
Isabel Ariagno, Olivia Chafe, Andrew Baggs, Connor Watson and Lindsay Winters are employed by SDG Counties.
Their main duties will include providing tours at the SDG Jail, patrolling the waterfront trail and providing mobile visitor services experiences, responding to inquiries, and promoting the SDG region.
In the past the ambassadors have even helped a cyclist change a deflated tire.
“Our cycling trails are the envy of many communities across Ontario,” said Karina Belanger, SDG Counties tourism coordinator.
“Our students have completed their training and will be spending much of their time interacting with visitors and cyclists to showcase amenities in and around SDG Counties.”
Ariagno is at the University of Guelph, majoring in European studies, Chafe is a double major in English and cultural studies and philosophy at McMaster (Hamilton), Watson is a welding and fabrication student at St. Lawrence College (Cornwall), Winters is studying global and international studies at Carleton (Ottawa) and Baggs is a business marketing and sales students at Loyalist College (Belleville).
The students are looking forward to the balance of the summer and helping individuals visiting SDG Counties or enjoying some time close to home.

The Jail reopens
The ghosts are waiting for you at the Historic SDG Jail.
This popular tourist attraction, located at the County Administration Building at 11 Water St. West in Cornwall has reopened for another season. Guided tours take place Thursday through Sunday, at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
No appointment is necessary.
