CPS arrest Cornwall women for stabbing, assault with a knife

CORNWALL, Ontario -Karley Billard, 27, of Cornwall was arrested and charged with aggravated assault in relation to an incident that took place on Pitt St. on Thursday, June 27.

It was reported that Pitt St. was closed from Sixth St. to Ninth St. as CPS Criminal Investigation Division and the Forensic Identification Unit occupied the scene where a man was found critically injured around 4:30 a.m. on June 27.

The victim in the matter was subsequently airlifted to Ottawa with critical injuries, and has since been deemed to be in stable condition.

After a thorough investigation, police determined that an altercation took place, where the woman is alleged to have stabbed the 39-year-old victim. The woman and the victim were both known to each other.

She was taken into custody, charged accordingly, and held for a bail hearing.

In a separate incident on Thursday, June 27,  a 26-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Threats
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Breach of probation for failing to keep the peace

It is alleged during an altercation with her ex-boyfriend, the woman threatened to harm him, and subsequently assaulted him using a knife.

Police were contacted and took the woman into custody. She was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
