CPS make arrest in Pitt St. stabbing

CORNWALL, Ontario – One individual was taken into custody after a thorough investigation made by CPS Criminal Investigation Division and the Forensic Identification Unit, following a 39-year-old man being found with serious injuries on Pitt St. on June 27.

CPS was called to Sixth St. and Pitt St. around 4:30 a.m. where they found the victim, who was transported to hospital. The victim was airlifted to Ottawa with critical injuries but is now in stable condition. CPS occupied the scene, closing Pitt St. from Sixth St. to Ninth St. until approx. 10:30 a.m.

Police have determined that an altercation took place, where the accused is alleged to have stabbed the victim. The CPS believes this is an isolated incident as the two individuals were known to one another, and there is no threat to public safety as a result of the incident.

Arrest and charge details will follow on Friday, June 28.

The CPS thank the public for their continued assistance during the investigation, which remains ongoing.
