Crossing the fundraising finish line – exceptional care, thanks to you.

As the holidays approach, I’m proud to provide an important update demonstrating the results of our charitable work together. Thanks to donors like you, local patients are now benefiting from CCH’s new state-of-the-art mammography machine, offering a highly detailed 3D imaging system and providing world-class diagnostic imaging right here at home.

Every year, more than 13,000 mammograms are performed at CCH for patients from Cornwall, the SDG Counties, and Akwesasne. Thanks to your support, our healthcare workers will enhance the quality and outcomes of breast cancer screening for mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends across our community.

The acquisition of this new mammography machine is several years in the making. CCHF completed our original fundraising goal of $400,000 in March 2020, right on the cusp of the global pandemic. Unfortunately, the purchase came to a standstill when borders shut down and medical equipment supply chains became severely delayed. The effects of COVID-19 were far more extensive than anyone could have imagined, and the resulting wait was difficult. Thankfully, a silver lining presented us with an outstanding opportunity.

The revised timing of the machine’s acquisition meant that CCHF could purchase equipment with groundbreaking features not available to us in 2020. Thanks to local donors who support urgent equipment needs at our hospital, CCHF provided an additional $250,000 so our hospital could secure the 3D breast imaging system for local patients. Words can’t adequately express how much our giving community means to us. Thank you for enabling exceptional care.

 Another goal within our reach

Since the Corus Caring Hearts Radiothon this August, donors have rallied around our project to purchase a new fracture table supporting orthopedic surgeries at CCH. Thanks to our outstanding Royal Canadian Legion Branch 297, CCHF was recently presented with a cheque of $7,500 from their Poppy Fund to help our campaign grow. Because of the Legion and donors like you, CCHF is only $13,500 away from our goal of $185,000 for the table’s purchase.

Your gifts this holiday season will support this exciting project, allowing us to soon bring the fracture table home to CCH. Any funds raised over our goal will help purchase other urgently needed equipment at CCH.

And a reminder for those seeking year-end charitable receipts:

If donating online, CCHF must receive funds via www.cornwallhospitalfoundation.ca before December 31st at 11:59 PM.

If donating by mail, envelopes must be postmarked by Canada Post no later than December 31st. If a cheque is marked for December, but the mailing envelope is postmarked in January, a donation will not comply with the 2023 receipting year. Our team carefully documents postmarked envelopes when opening donations in January after the Christmas break.

The deadline for in-person donations at our office is Friday, December 22, by 3 p.m. Gifts of stock must be processed by December 15th.

On behalf of our CCHF family to yours, we wish you a happy, healthy holiday, and very merry Christmas!
