Man arrested for assault, trafficking Xanax, Hydromorphone

CORNWALL, Ontario – A 29-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on Saturday, Sept. 7 and charged with the following:

·        Domestic assault

·        Domestic mischief

·        Forcible confinement

·        Possession for the purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance – Xanax

·        Possession for the purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance – Hydromorphone

·        Breach of probation for failing to keep the peace

·        Breach of undertaking for failing to keep the peace

It is alleged during an argument with his girlfriend, the man assaulted her, damaged her phone, as well as prevented her from leaving the residence.

Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. He was taken into custody, at which time he was found to be in possession of a quantity of Xanax and Hydromorphone pills.

The man was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
