As is custom when a new war movie is released, Red Ribbon Forces’ Brian Goodfellow was on scene at Galaxy Cinemas on Wednesday, December 8th, 2022, handing out Red Ribbon magnets in exchange for donations to support Canadian veterans.

The movie, Devotion, was released on November 23rd. It tells the inspirational true story of Jesse Brown, the first Black aviator in U.S. Navy history, and his friendship with fighter pilot Tom Hudner during the Korean War.

“We raise funds to donate to the Legion Poppy Fund, Soldier On, and an American hospital in Germany that treats Canadian soldiers,” explained Goodfellow, “We’ve also donated to the local air force at Nav Can and the SDG Highlanders.”

Red Ribbon Forces was co-founded by Brian Goodfellow and Eleanor Bookman. The duo has been volunteering their time to raise awareness about veterans’ issues for over a decade and do what they can to show thanks to our troops every chance they get.

“It’s been pretty quiet right now, but any time we can think of ideas to thank the troops we go in that direction,” Goodfellow said, “We’ve received The Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers from the Governor General for our work for the troops. Over 12 years, we’ve raised somewhere between $60,000 to $80,000.”
