CORNWALL, Ontario – One of the city’s busiest streets has closed two blocks for construction today, with no projected reopening date announced by the City yet.
Sydney St. will be closed between Second St. and Fourth St. as construction workers replace sewer and water pipes, add storm sewers, put down a new road bed and replace sidewalks and curbs.
The entire reconstruction, undertaken by Cornwall Gravel, comes with a price tag of approx. $1.8 million. The multi-tier project will involve the same work on Sydney St. from Fourth St. to Sixth St. in 2020, Sixth St. to Eighth St. in 2021 and Eighth St. to Ninth St. in 2022.
Access will be open for local traffic only, and this map here shows how to access the Cornwall Public Library parking lot.
