Warm Up Ukraine

Have you been wondering what you could do to help suffering people in Ukraine as winter approaches?

The Rotary Club of Cornwall Sunrise along with other Canadian Rotary Clubs is partnering with the Rotary Club of Kharkiv, Ukraine, to provide warm, waterproof blankets for people who are living in bomb shelters, collective heating points or other difficult circumstances. Distribution of the blankets is through the humanitarian help hubs that have been established in Ukraine to support those who need.

These blankets cost approximately $40 CDN each. These are 3-layer zippered blankets (waterproof fabric + sintepon + coat fabric) that are manufactured in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Each blanket measures 2 x 1.5 metres. Local manufacturing is being carried out by the Kharkiv sewing enterprise, “Kentavr”. In addition to manufacturing the blankets, this project provides employment for the seamstresses so they can purchase food, humanitarian kits, etc..  The total scope of this project is to manufacture 10,000 blankets.

To support the “Warm Up Ukraine” project, donations can be made to the Rotary Club of Cornwall Sunrise Foundation, a registered Canadian charity able to issue charitable tax receipts. Donations by cheque should be mailed to PO Box 562, Cornwall, K6H 5T3;  e-transfer foundation@cornwallsunriserotary.com (with donor details in message); for more information contact rotaryclubofcornwallsunrise@gmail.com
