CORNWALL, Ontario – The Memory Project Speakers Bureau will join local MPP Jim McDonell in welcoming the ex-Airwomen at a special event on Friday in Cornwall.
The reunion welcomes over 150 ex-Airwomen, coming together from all over Canada to connect with their fellow Royal Canadian Air Force veterans. This unique gathering will bring together female veterans of the Second World War, the Korean War, and various post-Korea missions and domestic operations.
The Memory Project staff will invite these women to share their unique stories of military service with their fellow Canadians by joining the Speakers Bureau program. Women’s contributions to the military have been under-represented in the past, and the Memory Project is very excited to give these particular stories a platform through their incredibly diverse Speakers Bureau.
The Memory Project Speakers Bureau is a national bilingual initiative of The Historica-Dominion Institute. The program facilitates speaking engagements between veterans and currently serving Canadian Forces personnel and classrooms and community groups across Canada. With 1,500 volunteers, the program reaches over 175,000 Canadians through more than 900 visits each year. The Memory Project Speakers Bureau receives the generous financial support of the Department of Veterans Affairs Canada.
The Historica-Dominion Institute is the largest independent charitable organization in Canada dedicated to promoting history, citizenship, and identity. The institute’s mandate is to build active and informed citizens through a greater knowledge and appreciation of the history, heritage, and stories of Canada.
