CORNWALL, Ontario – The PawPaws auction is underway and going strong for yet another year. This Christmas, the funds will be going towards Sparky’s Toy Drive with the teenagers being the main focus of this year.
“When people donate, they almost always think of the little one’s.” said Rosanne Morin. “The fact is that teenagers need help too and that is what made us want to help. We raised some money for them last year and thought this year it would be our main focus.”
The auction has helped raise money for numerous causes since it began in 2013. One of the many causes they have helped with is the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). Over several years, they have raised nearly $50,000 for the cause and counting.
The reasoning behind this event is truly incredible.
“I have a disability due to an accident when I was younger and was looking for something to do.” said Rosanne “To see all the abused animals on tv is saddening and I wanted to help so I started the PawPaws auction. The same goes for kids who don’t get to experience Christmas. We want to help them and the community goes out of their way to help a good cause.”
With just a few weeks left until Christmas, the campaign is still going strong to get as much as they can for the teenagers. Sparky and a few firemen will collect all the purchased items on Dec. 15. to get them ready for Christmas.
