CORNWALL, Ontario – Local residents will get one more chance to cross the old North Channel Bridge next week.
The Seaway International Bridge Corporation, Ltd. (SIBC), in collaboration with the Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (FBCL), are hosting a ‘bridge open house’ Tuesday, July 8, from 2 to 8 p.m.
The pedestrian-only event is free, wheelchair accessible and open to the public.
The rain date is set for Wednesday, July 9, from 2 to 8 p.m.
Community members are invited to walk the bridge and view the historical photos that will be set up on the bridge for the occasion, according to an FBCL media statement released today.
The special community event is also set to feature a brief commentary on the history of the old bridge, its replacement with the new North Channel Bridge and the planned demolition.
